Dreams of Waves
The foam glides over the dry sand
And sticks. making it wet with soapy spray
It mists at my toes
As I pull them back away from its grasp
It pours back into the sea
The vast blue getting darker
As it churns with sand and shells
And lost treasures holding secrets
It bounces over rocks and logs
Scaring off gulls perched
Waiting for the next big wind
Or just a lost ice cream cone
Dropped by a troubled child
Once a king or queen of a castle in the sand
With a wall of shells and a big throne
Decorated especially for their use
With no desires other than to live the moment
Before their dream home is soaked before their eyes
And their wall of shells and decorations
Are pulled back into the deep sea in a large reach
Of foamy fingers and a force so strong
That it churns the dreams into lost treasures
Just blended in with the others
Leaving mist on the toes of the king
