Bernice Lever

Bernice Lever's seventh book, BLESSINGS, New and Selected Poems, was by Black Moss, 2000. A retired college teacher, she has lived on Bowen Island since 2001. A life member of both the Canadian Authors Association and Canadian Poetry Association, she has been active in many literary groups and publishing ventures as an executive or editor and a workshop leader. From 1972-1987, she edited WAVES, a literary journal. Now collecting together her poems for another volume, she still gets high on words. Bernice has enjoyed readings her poems on 5 continents. After decades away from BC, she is enjoying the lively literary life of Vancouver. View her website: www.colourofwords.com to see how she uses humour to carry her messages.

Colour of Words

Selected Poem:

HAVE YOU EVER

Have you ever thought
that the blind
have no colour prejudices,
and the deaf care
not for speeches,
etc.,

but even lacking our five
over-rated senses,
people have a choice
to hate
or
to love.

Bernice Lever (c) 1979
{Yet Woman I Am - first collection of my own poems}
