Deborah Kelly

"I was born in Fort Churchill, Manitoba...one of the northern-most areas of the prairie provinces of Canada, the youngest of five in a military family. I was a shy and withdrawn young girl and can remember spending a lot of time alone. I did not make friends easily when I was young, I guess because I was so timid and insecure. When I became a teenager, (around 14 or so), I discovered that I had the ability to make things rhyme and to write poems. So began my career as a poet. The discovery of self, the unravelling of emotion...the re-qualifying of negatives around me, these things all seemed to come so naturally to me, like wearing a second skin.

I wish all who read my words joy, peace and above all, a wealth of Love...within and without."

Deborah L. Kelly is the author of Tribute To Love (On The Wings Of Spirit), Let There Be Light (Words of Faith, Hope, Love † Spirit), Nature Songs and she is currently working on her fourth book tentatively titled The Golden Collection.

Selected Poem:

Auburn Of Autumn

With her branches reaching high unto heaven,
she was crowned with the beautiful
burnt auburn of autumn...
Now, burnt of time’s winds, she sits
peaceful in her surrender.
Her arms are bare, yet they still
reach ever upward to heaven
in Faith, just knowing, He will take
care of her through the harsh
and ragged breath of winter.
Majesty does not leave just because
the vibrance changes to a different tone.
Still, she reaches, knowing that when
the sun of the spring returns to her world;
once again she will wear her crown -
this one, of healing and of rebirth...
Reborn in glory and the colour
of the greatness that is her heart.
Mother Earth, rises strong within her,
and not time’s winds, nor time’s rains
could ever erase the beauty of the
wondrous passion of the summer to come.
