Franci Louann
Franci
Louann (nee Workman) welcomes poets to the Java Express, 3436 West Broadway
in Vancouver, on the Second Sunday of every month (2-4pm) for Poetry Plus
(details on our event listings).
Some of Franci's poems (15 minutes
of fame? long ago) are in Dorothy Livesay's last anthology, in the permanent
collection at the VPL and her poem Ambrosia at the Liberty Bakery
received Honourable Mention in the 2006 Words on Robson poetry contest.
Franci enjoys tutoring in poetry and
likes to re/name things and people - "a name is a short poem", she says.
Give her a word, and she'll prepare a small manuscript on that theme, from her
collection, if possible, for $5.00.

Selected Poem:
MY HERON
my heron
great blue
stands
on one leg
watches
the shallows
waits
for dinner
each time
I see her
I'm surprised
by her stillness
I stop
catch my breath
then breathe
more deeply
knowing my totem
has got it right
mentors me
in meditation
