Franci Louann
Franci
Louann has over 500 poems that she knows she has written…were there 600?
Many are ten lines or fewer…lately they are coming as longer poems & sometimes
in a series…yikes, ask every word what it’s doing there!? The topics are as
varied as life itself. She had early poems included in Dorothy Livesay’s last
anthology, as Fran Workman. One poem won the Memorable Moments contest for the
Vancouver Folk Music Festival’s 25th anniversary. From Ontario, & a long-time
resident of Metro Vancouver, Franci loves to workshop poems in intimate
settings.

Selected Poem:
MY HERON
my heron
great blue
stands
on one leg
watches
the shallows
waits
for dinner
each time
I see her
I'm surprised
by her stillness
I stop
catch my breath
then breathe
more deeply
knowing my totem
has got it right
mentors me
in meditation
