2006 Kisses and Popsicles Spring Poetry Contest

First Place Winner: Stephanie Farmer

If Blue Were Purple

If blue were purple, then green would be pink.

Yellow'd be orange and red, be a drink.

It'd always be playtime, chores would be fun.

Rain would be gumdrops and so would the sun.

There'd be more ballerinas instead of small girls.

We would dress up in diamonds, emeralds and pearls.

        Kids would have sleepovers everyday.

Horses would eat liquorice instead of dry hay.

        Ice cream, candy, pizza galore.

As we would eat we would spill on the floor.

Not a thing would ever stay just right.

Everything would change like day and night

Right now everything is still the same.

Girls are girls and rain is rain.

But blue's not purple and green's not pink.

And red is red what else would you think.
