Waves

I thought I knew the waves
they looked strong like a sea of sunshine,
but the weather changed rapidly
and I am adrift.
The power is gone
the emotions are shocked,
love evaporates
illusions drowned
leaving empty shells dried on the beach.

~ Composed by the West Vancouver Library Workshop
for the North Shore Writers Festival
