2005 Children's Scholarship Winner: Nicholas Loewen

Bio and photo coming soon.

Picture Frame

An old brown and white photograph, smelling of dust
and formality; sounding of tight, hard conversation;
tasting of dark, formal rooms, full of brown and red
with the musty smell of anxiousness that
accompanies places like this tight, formal, proper
place. Concealed in the intricate design of this magic
frame.

In My Hand

In my hand I hold a squishy ball that looks like a soap
bubble, smells like games, tastes like fun, sounds like
laughter. In my hand I hold a glistening sphere of
many good times. My hand is closed around this
concealed joy and laughter, protecting it from any
harm that may come to it, preserving it until it is safe,
when this ball of glory will fly through the air, amid
peels of laughter, and shouts of glee.
