Third Place Winner: Nathalie Daudet

A Single Word

A single word has underestimated electricity.
When I open a dictionary
I feel overwhelmed by the delicate intricacy of a single word.
I am mystified by what a jumble of characters can do sitting,
Waiting innocently for someone to come along and understand it's simple,
But powerful significance.
I feel that I am entitled to know every word in the world,
Although, it scares me to attempt such a task.
Words are individual creatures in themselves.
They have a personality, and it seems as if a potter has formed every single word
With a full heart, and has marked it playfully with their fingertips...
How I feel honored to put my soul onto paper with a single word.
