a kind of botched plastic surgery
the bus-ticket-sodden-mitt-dog-shit sidewalks
edged by sunken grey heaps
of what fell
a week ago
I've been dreaming a coastal rain
to heal the boulevards green
as another snow would white the east
over
and over
but today again the clouds won't open
crossing the schoolyard's gravel field
I'm thinking
groceries
prescriptions
the remnants
of a fort
scattered boot prints compressed to ice
leave a broken path
