Stirring the Sky
We asked the children to break up into groups of two or three and to write a poem together. The theme was stirring the sky and the idea is to have one child write a line and then the other, and to continue alternating until the poem is complete. This is always fun as you never know where the poem will take you! The following poems are the weird and wonderful results of that exercise.

Stirring the sky

Stirring the sky
squishing the moon
touching the sun
feeling the stars
reaching for hope
hand in hand
we will be together
forever and ever.

~ composed by
Equity Sorinha, Cyra Smith, and Syana Fawks

Stirring the sky

I was at my house on Saturday.
I found a great recipe, the first ingredient was
to put a cup of milk in it.
So I did, then it said to get butter and clouds and mix it.
A few minutes later the sky started turning.
It was like a tornado it was horrible.
I was trying to stop it by hand
then I remembered I could use a stick to calm it.
So I moved the broom stick and it
was like stirring the sky and it went all away.
The End

~ composed by J and E

Stirring the sky

Stirring the sky in a barn so high
with the moon as my guide.
Oh this is the night I can not lie
for this night my soul shall die.
My penalty is for the crime I did not commit
with the sun as my light and the wind as my strength
I shall step forth to the guillotine
I look at the block that so many heads have rolled off
But not today,
today an ancient soul shall be blessed
to the sun, the moon, and the sky.
I only hope that he who committed this crime
shall fall in the darkness below
so the fire talks fold and burn for eternity.
I rise up through the clouds
look back at the earth from a bird’s eye
for the life I could have had
and could have lived.

~ composed by Diva and Christie Bliss

Stirring the sky

Stirring the sky
With a wooden spoon
In a big pot
With not much room
For the sky to spin
Beneath all the earth sun a devilsih mixture
With an angelic sent
Is not much to be kept
In this big pot
Which started with the sky
It was rainy outside and that is the story or stirring the sky.

~ composed by Heather and Natasha

Stirring the Sky

Sitting on a cloud there was an angel named Anna.
she was a very pretty girl.
Unfortunately she was murdered at the age of thirteen.
She had long blond hair that reached her waist and big blue eyes.
Although she liked heaven she wished to live on earth.
She opened the golden gates to heaven every day
She wished to have one of the most important jobs in heaven
STIRRING THE SKY.
Stirring the sky is when you receive a Golden spoon from God
to keep the clouds moving.
The next day she got a message from God
that she had been promoted to be a sky stirrer,
she did not hesitate to take the job and from then on
she stirred the sky!

~ composed by Ocea, Shopie, and Neliy

Stirring the Sky

The sky was turning around and around and around.
As if someone was stirring it.
Great ripples formed and as they reached
further and further away from the middle they disappeared.
I’m gifted because I can make the sky spin and spin.
The stars are all in a jumble yes they are.
All of them in a mix.
They were being made into soup.
But now they are gone.
Into my tummy, yummy yum!
But I have no more sky to stir;
it’s all in my tummy, yummy yum yum!
Ha ha ha! I like soup.
Soon the sky is gone, nothing to see,
just blackness, but now the sky is in Me!!
