COLLAGE & MIXED MEDIA - SUPPLY LIST

The supply cost per person is approx $30 -$75 depending on which supplies you want to use and what you already have at home. You do not need to bring them all, only the first 4.

These are the 4 materials required for everyone in the class:
1.  pre-stretched canvas or canvas board or cradled board (canvas and canvas boards you can get at most dollar stores).

2. Weldbond glue (most materials) or Rubber Cement (gluing paper) or Acrylic gel and a brush (for tissue paper, transparent fabrics) or Crazy Glue/Household Cement (metals, stone, shells)
3. scissors
4. collage supplies (your poems/words, paper, magazines, fabric, pearls, wood, metal, plastics, leather, feathers, natural objects, photos)

If you want to use Acrylic paint you will also need:
1. Acrylic paint (5 basic colours-black, white, one red, one blue, one yellow or have a limited palette of black, white and one colour)
- red, blue and yellow can be cool or warm colours
- generally cool colour combinations give you brighter colours
- warm colour combinations give you muddier colours
- cool reds: magenta, crimson, violet

- warm reds: cadmium, Grumbacher
- cool blue: ultramarine, cobalt

- warm blues: cyan, cerulean, phthalo
- cool yellows: primary or hansa

- warm yellow: cadmium
2. brushes: synthetic brushes are the best, easier to clean, keep shape better and hold more liquid (best ones: white Taklon, also good are Nylon, Hyplar, synthetic Sable, Acrilex - not Acryoil) 1- 2 brushes - size depends: for detailed painting - buy small (sizes 1, 0, 00) small brushes come to a point, larger come in round or flat top
3. palette (Plexiglas or glass/plastic palette or pad disposable palettes)
4. container/bamboo roll or placemat/cardboard to protect brushes
5. Optional items: Palette knife (texture/spread glue) & Brush cleaner
6. 2. small glass or plastic jars (to save mixed paint-to prevent drying)

If you want to draw with collage you will also need:
1. drawing materials (oil pastels or chalk pastels/conte or coloured pencils or ink or water soluable crayons/pencils etc.)
2. eraser (soft/moldable or hard)

3. fixative spray or gel/brush

Please wear old clothes - acrylic paints & glues do NOT wash out.
