Third Place Winner: n lovatsis

Torn jewelry

I remember the first time.
Outside the water-hose was running,
the cleaning ladies scrubbing the courtyard-
the scrape scrape of brooms on the stones
their chatter, their laughter
sounds that kept us steady.
You - across the room
held the arghile between your knees
pretending to show it to me,
but you were not speaking.
And I had no words.
So I came to you, just as liquid

being siphoned

has only one course.
