'this philosophy'

and so if you can imagine the

night sky as a great, black shade drawn
over the city, with the universe burning behind it,
and the stars as pinholes tom into this shade,
and if you can imagine the
misplaced moon hung on a
fishing line in front of it all, then
perhaps i can love you. and
perhaps our children will be wet-eyed
dreamers who wear mittens that look like
small animals wrapped around their hands, and who
turn their faces up to smile at the misplaced moon on its
silver fishing line. the pinhole stars will
wink at them, and our children will know there is
so much more than this black-shade-city, and the
burning behind it.
