Spring Arrives

I cross the Oak Bridge every Tuesday night
coming back from my late dancing class
thinking while gazing at the white city lights
Looking up at the stars in the sky
interpreting constellations behind the big dome outside

I wish I could be part of the stars, shimmers of white,
and study constellations I've never known
me, part of the universe overlooking earth

As time passes by, spring arrives
allowing the sparrow to sit on our electrical wire outside
enjoying its own song
undisturbed

Until, my sister skips outside
and drives the bird away, breaking the melody,
and returns with a broad grin on her face
I wish I could protect the bird
and find quiet peace through the spring silence
before going to school
