starts by getting each participant to assemble their own text book! We go on to:

Free Verse: A Poetry Class
Join us for an intimate (8 students maximum) four-week poetry course. The focus
will be on helping each poet hone her/his voice and explore a series of themes.
We will play with imagery, line break, rhythm, diction/syntax, etc. Each class
will include invigorating writing exercises, reading and discussion of some of
the great poems of our time, and sharing work with the group. At the end of the
course, each poet will turn in a short portfolio (6-10 pages) for individual
feedback from the teacher. The course will be conducted by Jen Currin and held
at her house. Tea provided.
Four Wednesdays, August 6-27, 7-10 p.m.
Jen Currin has published two books of poems,

Ekphrastic Poetry
Ekphrasis
is the graphic, often dramatic description of a visual work of art, though in
ancient times ekphrasis referred to the description of any thing, person, or
experience. Join Christine Leclerc for an exploration of ekphrastic poetry.
Participants will become familiar with existing works of ekphrastic poetry and
complete a number of writing exercises. Participants are also invited to bring
objects to write from, though this is not required.

Unraveling the Mysteries of the Prose Poem
Perched
between poetry and prose, the prose poem occupies a tricky space. It is
genre-bending by nature, and encourages flights of fancy, surrealist moments,
dreams, circular arguments…In this two-hour workshop we will practice writing
prose poems and read some of the best this genre has to offer.
